lessons past

In my drive to succeed (or just pass), I’ve forgotten what I have learned about happiness and contentment.  I need to remember that such things are choices, not goals.  I can employ anxiety, stress, and dissatisfaction to motivate and enhance my studies (it’s a neurologically supported fact that we learn best at moderate stress levels), but at the end of the day, I need to let it all go and smile.

  1. I get the vague impression that you’re under more than moderate stress.

Yes, being in the grind, scrambling to meet the demands of authority kills the imagination and dulls the mind.
We lose perspective of other pursuits and forget our passion for life.

Even where we are taking classes and learning we tend towards the mindset of any trainable animal: learning to perform a trick to get fed a treat.
We forget whatever it was as soon as tangible material payoffs cease.
We are encouraged into a mentality where we put short term material gain before purpose and meaning.
