death

I can not get over it. So much of life, we know or presume to know. The ocean’s depths, the universe so infinite, the mind so unusual to be able to contemplate itself.

But death. Wow. Death. Death is the unknown. Imagine lying on your deathbed and closing your eyes for the last time–closing your eyes to your friends, your family, this life, this world. What the hell happens then? The universe goes on? Maybe, but what’s it to you? You’re dead. What is the universe if you are not alive to perceive it? The universe is inconsequential.
